COD MW3: A note about Kill Death Ratio

Look at your KDR.  Is it less than 1?  If yes its probably because you are not being careful enough.  A lot of people will tell you Kill Death Ratio is not everything, but unless you’re playing some game mode without Point/Kill Streaks you’re going to make it harder for yourself if you are dying more than you are killing.  For example, in Domination, capturing flags is more important than getting a high KDR, but if you have a negative KDR you’re increasing the chances that someone on the other team could get an Attack Chopper or something that is going to make it a lot harder to get those captures; the captures come a lot easier if the other team is not being fed kills.

Many people claim to ‘play the game for fun’ and don’t to care about stats, however I would suggest that every player plays it for fun, and that its more fun if you’re winning.  In my opinion the KDR statistic is the best way to measure your ability to play Call of Duty, and a higher KDR player is probably winning more often.  I personally find performing poorly frustrating, and strive to improve in an effort to suffer poor performances less often.  Keeping an eye on your KD is a good way to measure your performances in games, and from personal experience, reaching a point where you can regularly get at least as many kills as deaths allows you to be much more invested in the game.
