One of the best ways to prevent people from killing you is to stop them from knowing where you are. The Perks required for a completely invisible class are:
- Blind Eye
- Assassin
- Dead Silence
The most important Perk here is Assassin, it hides you from UAVs and Advanced UAVs and does the most to prevent enemies from knowing where you are. In a game type like Domination it is very easy to obtain a UAV, especially if people are using Support Streaks, and if you are struggling in a game, your life will be made a whole lot easier by throwing Assassin on the Perk 2 slot.
Blind Eye and Dead Silence are less necessary, Blind Eye is only required if the enemy team has Air Support. In my opinion a good starter class would be as follows:
- M4A1 Silenced
- FMG9 Akimbo
- Semtex
- Flashbang
- Sleight of Hand
- Assassin
- Stalker
Using this class will allow you to keep your position hidden from all enemies, with the addition of a Silencer on your gun meaning that you will never be marked on the map, even when firing. With your position hidden, you can kill opposing players before they know where you are - if the enemy doesn’t know where you are he can’t defend himself.
Using the same class with Blind Eye in place of Sleight of Hand will allow you to avoid being killed by attack helicopters and other lethal kill streaks. Dead Silence is an option over Stalker if you want to ensure that people can’t hear you coming, however this is not often very important.
Something to note is that some people seem not to use the Assassin Perk out of pride, however if you are finishing with more deaths than kills in most games my feeling is that avoiding appearance on the enemy mini-map is more important than being able to say, ‘I don’t use Assassin’.
Look at your KDR. Is it less than 1? If yes its probably because you are not being careful enough. A lot of people will tell you Kill Death Ratio is not everything, but unless you’re playing some game mode without Point/Kill Streaks you’re going to make it harder for yourself if you are dying more than you are killing. For example, in Domination, capturing flags is more important than getting a high KDR, but if you have a negative KDR you’re increasing the chances that someone on the other team could get an Attack Chopper or something that is going to make it a lot harder to get those captures; the captures come a lot easier if the other team is not being fed kills.
Many people claim to ‘play the game for fun’ and don’t to care about stats, however I would suggest that every player plays it for fun, and that its more fun if you’re winning. In my opinion the KDR statistic is the best way to measure your ability to play Call of Duty, and a higher KDR player is probably winning more often. I personally find performing poorly frustrating, and strive to improve in an effort to suffer poor performances less often. Keeping an eye on your KD is a good way to measure your performances in games, and from personal experience, reaching a point where you can regularly get at least as many kills as deaths allows you to be much more invested in the game.
Recently I’ve been playing a lot of Free For All on COD MW3, and the basic mistakes (as I see them) of some players who I assumed were experienced never cease to surprise me. It is a similar situation with players in team game modes. I am bored and have decided to try to explain some of the decisions I make in terms of classes and set ups in order to be the slightly above average player my stats claim I am.
I’m probably going to write them as separate posts to avoid things getting to wordy and long winded, with maybe a topic for each post of something. They’ll probably be written as if I’m talking to someone who’s never played the game before even though I’m relatively certain if anyone reads them it’ll be people who I play with who are reading out of courtesy. This is just because I have no idea how to write it any other way. First post coming in a few minutes, it’s gonna be about Perks I think.
I’m gonna prefix the title with, ‘COD MW3’ so boring posts about COD are easily avoidable.
